Moving regions towards climate neutrality: Kick-off meeting of the TRANSFORMER project consortium

On Tuesday, September 27, the project consortium of the recently started TRANSFORMER project met in a hybrid event for the Kick-off meeting. 17 representatives of the four TRANSFORMER regions (Emilia-Romagna/Italy, Lower Silesia/Poland, Western Macedonia/Greece and the Ruhr Metropolis/Germany) visited the Institute of Geography to discuss how they can transform their regions into “real-life laboratories” in order to provide solutions how regions in Europe can become climate neutral in the future. Co-ordinated by the institute’s urban and regional economics team, the project consortium receives 2.3 million € in funding over two years from the European Union’s scientific research initiative, Horizon Europe.
