Thanks to the Microeconomics of Competitiveness Affiliate Network, the Urban and Regional Economics team at the Institute of Geography is currently a hotbed of international visitors. Most recently, Prof. Ibrahim Awad from Al-Quds University in Jerusalem (Palestine) joined Prof. Kiese's team for a three-months research visit. At Al-Quds University, Ibrahim Awad serves as a professor of business economics and econometrics at the Faculty of Economics and Business, and he was recently appointed as director of Al-Quds Institute of Competitiveness and Development Economics at Al-Quds University. Prof. Awad earned his Ph.D. in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Leipzig, Germany in 2010. His research interests are in business economics, competitiveness, entrepreneurship, development economics, and resource economics. He has not only published many papers in refereed international journals, but also participated in several international and world conferences in economics and business. During his visit, which also brought his family to Bochum, Prof. Awad will also contribute to RUB's MOC class when leading the case discussion on Ghana.
