Bochum: sunniest November - update

At both, our urban (LMSS) and campus (RGS) measurement sites, November 2011 had the largest number of sunshine hours of all Novembers observed so far. 132.2 hours were clocked by sundown, 30/11, at LMSS, topping the previous "best" of 106.8 hours (1989) and setting a new record in the time series beginning in 1923. The campus station reported a total of 161.2h by the end of the month, also setting a record in the 18-year series, and exceeding this year's June (129 hours). The mean November sunshine duration of all previous years is 51 hours and 56 hours, at LMSS and RGS respectively. Precipitation also was at an all-time November low, with only 2.9 mm total at LMSS. At the same location, the average daily maximum temperature for November reached a new high with 13.4 degrees Celsius.
