Thermal Comfort in Dortmund – Successful Completion of the Second Stakeholder Workshop within the D2R Project

As part of the Data2Resilience (D2R) project, the second stakeholder workshop took place in Dortmund on Monday, November 11, 2024. The event was organized by the Bochum Urban Climate Lab in cooperation with Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) and Leibniz University Hannover (LUH), with support from the ICLEI CATCH4D project of the Institute for Regional and Urban Development Research (ILS). Representatives from the City of Dortmund, as well as external experts from various fields, also participated.

The aim of the workshop was to build on the first stakeholder workshop held the previous year, present the project's progress to date, and work with stakeholders to optimize the next steps. The morning session began with a review of developments from the past year, followed by the presentation of the newly developed dashboard, whose requirements were defined during the first stakeholder workshop. This was followed by presentations on various topics, including climate adaptation and the associated strategic implementations in Dortmund. Additionally, the experiences of the climate monitoring network in Gelsenkirchen and the progress of the partner project CATCH4D were shared. In the afternoon, the newly developed dashboard was tested for the first time. In small groups, participants analyzed its functions, identified strengths and weaknesses, and worked on specific use cases. The insights gathered will now be incorporated into the further development of the dashboard before it is made publicly available. The workshop concluded with a presentation on the project's previous engagement activities and an open discussion where participants explored additional opportunities and potential of the initiative.

Overall, the second stakeholder workshop was a success. The project team is now entering the final development phase, during which the feedback and insights from stakeholders will be incorporated into the next steps.
