The BSc program includes a compulsory module worth 12 CP called "Professional field of geography (with internship)". At the core of the module is a professional internship of at least eight weeks, which must be completed in geographic professional fields.
If you want to go into teaching, you are recommended to do a school internship and a short professional internship. Both are supervised through the optional area.
In addition, or if you do not want to go into teaching, you can do a longer professional internship, which is supervised by the geography department, but is also credited in the optional area.
In the M.Sc. program, regardless of the specialization (Urban and Regional Development Management; Urban and Landscape Ecology; Geomatics), a compulsory elective module "Professional Internship" is anchored in the scope of 14 CP. Within this framework, you must complete a professional internship of at least ten weeks.
In the M.Ed. teaching degree program, you complete a so-called core internship (school practice studies). This is integrated into the module M III (subject didactics II). You can find a module description here

Presentation of occupational fields in the colloquium "Berufsfeld Geographie"
In the colloquium "Berufsfeld Geographie" a variety of occupational fields are presented on an ongoing basis (currently every summer semester) by graduates of geography courses (usually from the RUB) who are now working in practice as geographers. For information about individual occupational fields, about contact possibilities and addresses or simply to get to know practitioners, the events are open to all interested parties.
