What is the role of agriculture and livestock in fighting hunger and achieving food security? How can Earth observation support this?

The Agriculture & Livestock module provides an overview of the key challenges and opportunities in this field and offers insights into best practices and innovations that can help increase food production while protecting the environment. It also discusses the impacts of climate change on agriculture and livestock, and explains the importance of sustainable agriculture and livestock in conserving biodiversity and improving rural livelihoods. This module will provide practical principles and key methodologies of remote sensing approaches related to agriculture and livestock.

The Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) "Towards Zero Hunger" is being developed as a series of freely and temporally unlimited accessible modules around the topic of Earth Observation and Food Security in the working group Geomatics - Interdisciplinary Geosciences of the RUB, together with the Friedrich Schiller University Jena in the framework of the project EO Connect (funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research; FKZ: 01DU2000B).
