Nathalie Miezal receives funding award for teacher education RUHR

On May 15, 2025, Nathalie Miezal, a research associate at the Bochum Urban Climate Lab, was awarded the award for teacher education RUHR in the MINT funding category.
The award ceremony took place during the graduation celebration for teacher education students in the Audimax of Ruhr University Bochum.

For her master’s thesis, Nathalie Miezal received a prize of 1,000€. In addition, her partner school was awarded 500€ in recognition of its support for the project.

In her thesis, she investigates how environmental excursions can motivate students to engage in environmental protection. The focus of her work is the evaluation of the educational project Alpine Climate Summit in the Ötztal Alps. This initiative aims to strengthen young people's environmental awareness through direct experiences in nature and to promote sustainable behavior.

Through her practice-oriented research, Nathalie Miezal makes a valuable contribution to the development of innovative concepts in teacher education – particularly in the field of Education for Sustainable Development.
