Announcement: Course Introduction to Google Earth Engine

On 21st January, guest scientist Susanne Benz will do a course on Google Earth Engine from 2 pm to 5 pm in room IA 6/151.
The course will cover the following topics:
This class introduces analysis of satellite imagery in the Google Earth Engine platform. Students will use it to analyze large scale geographic data as well as temporal-spatial dynamics. They will learn of to manipulate different types of georeferenced data (e.g. satellite derived products). As a case study this class focuses on the rapid expansion of the Kutupalong refugee camp in August 2017 in Bangladesh. Basic knowledge of GIS (e.g. QGIS or ArcGIS) and access to Google Earth Engine is assumed. At the end of the class students will be able to…
find an assess the different data products available in Google Earth Engine
integrate new GIS data into the platform
perform band math and calculate spectral indices using the Google Earth Engine code editor
perform time-series analysis
solicit user input and use the Google Earth Engine app-building feature
export images and tables (to google drive and to assets)
