The master's thesis is an independent written examination paper that concludes the scientific training in the master's phase. It should be approximately 20,000 words in length. The thesis should demonstrate that the student is able to work independently and methodically on and present a geographical problem within a given period of time. The processing time is six months. Students have the right to propose topics and supervise the Master's thesis. The topic can only be returned once and only within the first month of the processing period. Upon justified application, an extension of the deadline of a maximum of six weeks is possible as an exception. If the work is not handed in on time, it must be graded with 0 percentage points (= not sufficient). The paper is passed if 50 percentage points are achieved in the overall assessment.
