Learning Goals

The students acquire theoretical knowledge and in-depth knowledge of the characteristic structural and functional features of representative landscapes in Central Europe and an understanding of fundamental relationships and processes in ecosystems and landscape-ecological interrelationships. In the exercises, they learn to view thematic and topographic maps integratively.

Contents

WiSe:
Lecture on physical-geographical basics (relief and substrates, soil development, climate, vegetation) of representative landscape areas in Central Europe: North German lowlands, Central German drylands,
low mountain range I: stratified and karst landscapes, low mountain range II: Black Forest as crystalline basement.

Sun:
4-day excursion through Central Germany. Seminar on natural material cycles and anthropogenic influences as differentiating and formative ecosystem factors.

Mode of assessment

oral exam (Prerequisite: completed mentoring interview)


Additional Information

Conditions for granting credit points

Passed study achievements (1 exercise accompanying the lecture, one presentation in the seminar Ecosystems), participation in the excursion, passed oral examination.
Since the learning success and competence acquisition in the seminar Ecosystems takes place via discursive processes, attendance is compulsory.

Parts of the module are components of the module "Landscapes of Central Europe" of the B.A. degree programme
