Students acquire basic knowledge and skills in the use of geographic information systems (GIS) and geodata.
The module "Geographical Information Systems (GIS)" comprises a two-hour seminar course in which the students learn how to use a commercially available Geographical Information System (GIS) for the collection, administration, analysis and presentation of geodata. The focus is on practical work with geographic information systems and geodata - building on the theoretical knowledge of the two lectures "Geomatics I and II".
Seminar
The teaching of methodological competences and theoretical basics for the professional handling of geodata in practical exercises that build on each other (partly using special software) require the regular participation of the students in the seminar sessions (with a maximum of 2 absences).
Classroom exercise (application of the theoretical and practical knowledge imparted in the seminar)
Conditions for granting credit points
Successful completion in the sum of the partial performances
Composition of the module grade
a) Course work (admission requirement for the written examination)
b) Attendance exercise (100% of the module grade)
Usage of the module
Compulsory module in the B.Sc. degree programme Geography
