Have you noticed free-living parrots in German cities yet? The bright green flocks of the Ring-necked parakeet have become a familiar sight in many urban areas – and they spark both fascination and debate.

We are looking for a motivated Bachelor’s or Master’s student (Ruhr University Bochum) to investigate how people in Germany perceive these non-native parrots and how such perceptions influence attitudes towards their management. The project is supervised by Simon Mösch and conducted in collaboration with Jessica Smith from the University of Exeter.

The thesis will involve online or in-person surveys. Students with an interest in urban ecology, human–nature relationships, or conservation science are encouraged to write us a message! Further in info in the PDF.
