Welcome, Jake Tsubota!

14. September 2022

The Institute of Geography welcomes Fulbright research student Jake from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Jake recently received his Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Geography, with a minor in GIS. His studies focused on international trade and macroeconomics, environmental economics, land use and urban transportation, as well as spatial analysis. He received an Undergraduate Research Award from his university for a project on transit-oriented development in the Washington, D.C. region, and he completed an internship in the Office of Policy and Plans at the Maritime Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation. With financial support from the German-American Fulbright Commission, Jake will be hosted by the Urban and Regional Economics team until July 2023 for a research project exploring the hitherto neglected impact of transportation networks on industry cluster development in the Ruhr.
