Night Lights Webinar

The working group coordinates an international English-language seminar series on remote sensing using nighttime lights, which takes place roughly six times per year. The seminar is usually held either in the morning (to allow people from Asia to participate) or the late afternoon or early evening (to allow people from the Americas to participate). Students and remote sensing practitioners from around the world are warmly invited to attend. To receive notices of upcoming speakers and the link to join the meeting, sign up here.

The first planned speakers are:

  • October 6: “A geospatial perspective on electrification strategy in urbanizing Africa”, presented by Jessica Kersey (UC Berkeley Energy and Resources Group), Sam Miles (Johns Hopkins University), and Vivek Sakhrani (AtlasAI)
  • December 3: Night lights from space: potential of SDGSAT-1 for ecological applications Speaker: Dominique Weber (Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL)
