On Future Day, we took a group of 20 enthusiastic schoolgirls on a fascinating journey through the world of satellite images.

The event opened with a short thematic introduction that took the pupils into the secrets of earth observation with satellites. They learnt about the properties of these satellites and how versatile they are in their use. Equipped with iPads and augmented reality (AR), the pupils then immersed themselves in the world of satellite images. Using the ‘Columbus Eye’ app, they were able to scan a marker that took them on a fantastic journey through the Earth-Moon system. After a short lunch break, the students had the opportunity to work on the ‘Summer in Paris’ worksheet and make exciting discoveries about the increasingly relevant topic of urban heat islands. To round off the adventure, the students went on a short discovery tour of the campus together.
